Highdown Farm Holiday Cottages are situated right in the heart of Devon and are ideally placed for discovering the rest of this lovely county.  We are so lucky to have so many interesting and beautiful places to visit on our doorstep.  The stunning coastline, rugged granite tors of Dartmoor and the rolling hills and hidden valleys of Exmoor are all within easy reach.  Killerton National Trust House & Gardens and Quadworld are both only a 10 minute drive away.  The cathedral city of Exeter with its excellent shopping centre, historic quayside and award winning museum is only 10 miles away.

Beaches

There are some lovely beaches within 45 minutes drive away.  Exmouth has a long sandy beach, ideal for making sandcastles, whilst the coastal town of Sidmouth has a pebbly beach and clifftop walks.
The spectacular Jurrassic coastline which includes the pretty villages of Beer and Branscombe are less that an hours drive away.

The Moors

Both the granite tors of Dartmoor and the wooded valleys and hills of Exmoor are within an hours drive.

Walking

There are many lovely walks in the area including around the farm, the surrounding villages and at Ashclyst forest

Cycling
There is a good network of cycle paths in Devon.  The nearest is The Westcountry Way.  Others include the Exeter Canal and The Exe Estuary

Shopping

The cathedral city of Exeter is 10 miles away, excellent shopping in Princesshay with all the major chainstores and in Gandy Street you will find some independant shops.  The Quay is a lovely place to relax  with a variety of antique and craft shops.   Visit the award winning museum.

Darts Farm at Topsham includes a farm shop, gifts, childrens clothes and toys and outdoor clothing as well as a restaurant and excellent fish shed.
